Obituary of Svein Apold

Apold, Svein With heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of our dear Svein on July 6, 2020 in St. Catharines at the age of 73. Loving partner of 20 years to Dorothy Boutilier, beloved son of Marie Apold of Norway, cherished father to Pascal (Bruno Grodin) and Dominic both of Quebec City. Much loved brother of Ingrid Bentsen (Uni) of Denmark, Kristine Rodal (Ina), Marie Heckman (Jauhn) and Arne (Evelyn) all of Norway. Svein is predeceased by his father Julian and his brother Olap both of Odda, Norway. Devoted grandpa of Raphael, Jacob, Francesca, and Victoria Grodin all of Quebec City, Maddy and Kennedy Apold of St. Catharines and Great grandpa to Eloise and Arthur Boivin. Svein will be deeply missed by his step sons Shane and Roger. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews. Svein was a marine electrician who sailed the sea and had been to many places all over the world. He came to Canada where he sailed the Great Lakes until his retirement in 2010. Svein enjoyed life to the fullest and had many friends. He was always happy and had many great stories to tell about his travels. His favourite pastime was having a cold beer with his friends at the Summit, especially with his best friend Joe. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Linhaven Home for the Aged for all their care and compassion. As per Svein’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
