Obituary of Joan Marie Hagadorn
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Grannie, Great Grannie and sister, Joan Marie Hagadorn (nee Wedsworth) on Saturday August 21, 2021, in her 89th year. She went to join the love of her life (Bob) after 7 months without him. They were married for 68 years. She will be missed dearly by her son, Doug (Lesley) Hagadorn, Daughter Sue (Randy) Mewhiney, Son in law Al Pybus (predeceased by daughter Debbie), Grandchildren Bryan (Vanessa) Mewhiney, Baillie (Mike) Broekema, Braydon (Susie) Mewhiney, Brittany, Kelsey (Dave) and Steven Pybus. Great grandchildren Abby, Anna, William and Jacob Broekema. Sister to Don (Doris) Wedsworth and sister-in-law to Larry Hagadorn, Joan (Terry) Wilson, Gale Knerr, and Wayne (Judy) Hagadorn.
Mom had a wonderful spirit and sense of humor. She loved her family so much and did anything she could for them. Mom was an RNA at the old St. Catharines General Hospital. She was an active member of the ACW at St Columba Church. Mom loved to knit and made many sweaters, dresses and blankets for her grandkids. She also loved to cook and bake. She would bake a cake for any occasion. Sometimes we had to keep things from her cause she would say "Oh I would have baked a cake for that". Mom would drop everything for her kids and grandkids. Always could count on mom to be there day or night.
She always had their doors open for anyone to drop in for tea, lunch or just a chat. Since residing at Extendicare, St. Catharines she has kept the staff there laughing and wondering what to expect next from her. She had some interesting banter with some of the residents too. Mom and Dad both loved their German Shepherds and always wanted to get another one but had to settle for ceramic ones later on.
We want to thank the amazing staff at Extendicare for helping mom and spending time with her during covid when Dad passed, and we couldn't be with her. There are just no words to express our gratitude for her care.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the SIMPLER TIMES CREMATION CENTRE. Graveside service will be held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston Street, St Catharines, to celebrate the lives of Joan and Bob Hagadorn on Saturday Sept 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place.
