Obituary of John Bernard McKenna
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of my beloved father, John B. McKenna on Friday January 22, 2012 at the age of 82. He was lovingly cared for by his family and incredible caregivers in his final days. Beloved father of Mike and Jen (Visentin) and devoted husband of JoAnn (nee - McInnis) for 53 years. Cherished Uncle to many nieces and nephews and Grandfather to Emme and Chloe. Predeceased by his mother, father, sister Kay, sister Marlene and brother Gerald. John was employed by Westinghouse for over 20 years after-which he enjoyed his wonderful years of retirement with family and friends. He lived his life with deep love and joy of family and was a devoted caregiver to his wife for many years. If he wasn’t tinkering in his garage, he always had time to help anyone who was in need. His kindness and generosity knew no limits. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We would like to thank all of his caregivers at Ina Grafton who were so gentle and compassionate. Also, the palliative care team and the Greater Niagara General Hospital who treated him with so much care and respect in his final days. We would also like to thank the LHIN who took care of all our needs. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to the SIMPLER TIMES CREMATION CENTRE 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, ON
If so desired memorial donations may be made to Wellspring Niagara. The McKenna family will be holding a celebration of John’s life at a later date when the weather is warmer and family and friends can safely gather. Our family would welcome shared memories on the tribute page as we reflect on the legacy of love, generosity, kindness and witty humour that John leaves with us all.
