Obituary of Denise Marie Georgette Camire
Denise Camiré, 87, of Thetford Mines, Quebec, passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2021 in her residence in Fonthill, Ontario. Denise, who everyone knew as “Mama”, was predeceased by her husband Henri, and her daughter Chantal (Ian Millet). She is survived by her brother Pierre (d. Lisa), her son Norman (Peggy O’Connor), and her four granddaughters, Lauren (Greg Simpson), Andrea (James Crawford), Carley and Shannon.Family and friends were the bedrock of Mama’s life. She was devoted to her beloved granddaughters and immersed herself in their activities and interests. Her unconditional love, support, generosity and strength of character attracted special people to her and she forged relationships that stood the test of time. She loved animals, big and small, and spoiled many that joined her growing family. Mama was an ardent volunteer in the communities where she resided. She expressed her artistic talents through embroidery, cross-stitching, sewing, knitting, crafts, baking, and sang in numerous choirs over the years. She enjoyed the outdoors and swimming in her pools.Mama loved to play all sorts of games; bridge, tiles, cribbage, gin rummy, wizard ... She was competitive and occasionally bent the rules, but when caught brought everyone to tears with laughter. Mama could be as stubborn as a goat, mischievous, and occasionally opinionated, often in a combination of French and English (Franglais). She was known to coax an unsuspecting loved one to play her ipad games to advance her through a difficult level. Watching sports on tv was another favourite activity.A private family service, with streamed service for extended family and friends, will be held in Montreal where Denise will be interred with her husband. A date will be determined when we can travel and come together safely. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nanny Angel Network (nannyangelnetwork.com); the Canadian Cancer Society (cancer.ca).
