Obituary of Conrad Edward Chartrand

Please share a memory of Conrad to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With deep sorrow the Chartrand family regrets to announce the passing of their beloved father on December 24th in St. Catharines Ontario at the age of 84.  Conrad died peacefully at home with his best friend and brother Paul at his side.

Conrad, is predeceased by his parents Norbert and Felicia Chartrand and his partner in life Theadora O’Brien.  Conrad will be dearly missed and survived by his three sons Denis (Jennifer), Mike (Claire) and Chris (Christine), grandchildren Robin, Justin, Michelle, Kayla, Noah, Hannah and Adam and one great grandchild Zarah.  He will be dearly missed by sisters Denise and Claudette, brothers Guy and Paul and remembered fondly by several, nieces and nephews.
Conrad was born in Ottawa and spent much of his youth growing up in Timmins Ontario.  As a young man he started to work with the Ontario Northland Railway Company along with a short stint at the Hollinger Mine.  Conrad later attended and graduated from the Ontario Provincial Police College in 1963.  He was posted to the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment in 1964 where he was a constable for close to 20 years.  Conrad then took on a mining career at Adams Mine for several years before relocating to St Catharines in 1991 where he enjoyed a long retirement.

Conrad was a kind, generous, loving man who loved life and especially enjoyed  family & friend gatherings where his humorous antics and loving personality resulted in laughter by all around him.  A man who loved sunny hot weather by his spotless pool, cold beverages and a fine meal.  He will be dearly missed always by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and at Conrad’s request a small private service will be held at his resting place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St Catharines, Ontario.  A celebration of life event for Conrad is planned this coming summer. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation.
